Good stats even with low SN?

      Guys,

What do you make of these stats. I've put the SN low on purpose and was suprised at how stable the line is. Download speeds just under 8Meg - via wifi. CRC errors are less than 0.02% on average.

I think you are asking for trouble with the NM that low. If there is any fluctuation (which there is from morning to evening) then you don't have a lot in hand.

You may find that what you have now is actually slower download wise compared to say 9mb because it has to resend the errors and work out what bits to re-send etc where with a better NM it runs a lot smoother.

At the moment, wait until the NM starts to drop.

Ok, i appreciate that comment. I am only trying to see at what point i get many errors. Over the past 2 days this is the lowest the s/n has been. But am i reading the logs right i.e am i correct in thinking the error rate is very low at this moment.

I would not say it is very low, my error rate for 12 hours is 145. I agree with Smithy, you will probably drop when the noise increases on the line. The danger from this is that if Sky's system sees these drops it may auto-configure your line to a much lower speed. This used to happen a lot, especially with the V1 routers first firmware.

Re: Good stats even with low SN?

I would say if it is working even at 8pm at night and keeps working through out the night then don't worry about it, just keep an eye on it for any slow down, if it does resync with unplugging the router then the SNR setting will not be lost.
