Experiencing fluctuating and overall slow speed
I'll firstly post my stats up:
To summarise, I was told when I signed up with Sky that I'd only be able to receive a maximum of 4.5MB download speeds. Months went by and the download speeds were about what they are now (bearing in mind I had a large extension lead from the master socket to the router). I finally removed the extension lead and plugged the microfilter directly into the master socket and direct to the router. At this point I emailed Sky to see if they could uncap my connection, low and behold they did and it increased to 2.6MB/s. A few days later I received an email from Sky to say the line wouldn't allow any more than 1.8MB/s and that there was essentially a problem my end. Several weeks on the speed dropped to what it is now.
This was until yesterday when for some reason the download speed dropped to 0.2MB/s. I decided to reinstall the router and it's software on my laptop, after which the speed had once again returned to 1.8MB/s (the capped limit). I spent the rest of the day online and shut down my laptop later that night. I've woken up this morning, checked my speed and once again it's back down to 1.0MB/s, I'm completely baffled as to why.
I've tried the test socket and receive the same results so I'm wondering if there's a program on my laptop that's possibly conflicting with the connection? Oh, and I've also tried the optimizer posted by LNB but to no avail.
Any ideas?

Re: Experiencing fluctuating and overall slow speed
Are these stats from the test socket? If not change out the filter and plug the router into the test socket (when in test socket if you have any other tel sockets on the line make sure they are now dead) and post new stats, you have a very low noise margin which could point to a line issue which is why you are not getting the speeds from your line. This is not a pc problem.

Re: Experiencing fluctuating and overall slow speed
OK, I know you said you've done it already but humour me. Please connect the router to the test socket via a different microfilter making sure you power cycle the router (ie, power it off/on). Also, make sure that nothing else is connected, phones, sky boxes etc and that any other phone sockets you have are now dead.
Post you stats, a simple cut and paste will do rather than an image as above.

Re: Experiencing fluctuating and overall slow speed
Can you please plug into the Test socket, no extensions and post the results here.
As an aside, there is no need to use the install CD, except if you want the AV and even if you do it will make no difference to your speed.
