      router stats rong?

      my stats are :-

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6144 kbps 608 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 28.5 db
Noise Margin 6.9 db 14.0 db

i have read that a line attenuation of 45 should let you acheive about 7-8 meg but i dont understand why i cant get that.

In my experience you only get infracted for being a naughty boy / girl. This forum is full of good people who offer good advice. Maybe the way to avoid infractions would be to follow that advice rather than multipost and pm members with the same information.
      Thats just imho of course

      Re: router stats rong?

      Okay can you:

      - reboot your router and then post your stats
      then
      - power off the router and remove the bottom half of the BT master socket to reveal the test socket. Pop a filter into the test socket and reconnect the router and post your stats again..

It's very important that the 2 sets of stats are posted from the same time so that other annomolies can be ruled out.

User CP button is at the top of the forum, click it and it allows you to edit your profile. If you wish to put a picture of your stats up then just insert an image into your post, but text is ok we believe you.

You cannot get the higher speed because you have noise on your line from somewhere. This is common and is usually caused by your internal phone wiring.

To prove if this is the case, you need to post your stats again from the test socket (see my sig below for details). If your stats get better when connected to the test socket, you may be able to get it sorted and a bit more speed, if not then you are getting all the speed your line can give without becoming unstable and there is nothing more you can do except move house closer to the exchange.

There is no point in doing or posting anything else until you have posted these stats from the test socket, and may I say, as someone who posted in your original threads, it was very confusing because you had so many running all to do with the same/similar problem, keep to the one and do what has been advised if you want to get it sorted

I assume as you have now started 2 new threads relating to faceplates that this thread is no-longer required?
