Re: Variance on Line attenuation with different routers
To be perfectly honest the real benifit of a filter faceplate occures when you use it with hard wired extension sockets, as it prevents interferance from the wiring to the extensions from causing problems with your broadband however, I would never use anything else, extensions or not. In your case, with a filter faceplate, all you need to do is plug the router in the ADSL socket, and use the doubler for the phone and sky box, in the phone socket. both the phone and ADSL sockets are on the filter faceplate, you do not need any other filters. You can also remove the I-Plate and with some filter faceplates it will not fit anyway.
When it comes to which filter faceplate to buy they are all much of a much ness, but have a word with Run-It-Direct as they know their stuff and give a discount for forum members

Thanks for that.
I think i'll await the changeover (planned for tomorrow) and then see how things are. If things are worse I'll definitely get one right away and if the same or a bit better I'll get one in a few weeks.

Re: Variance on Line attenuation with different routers
I have now gone live with Sky aftera very smooth change over (whilst I was at work).
Line attenuation on Sagem router is 55, s/n margin is 7 and my speed is 3770.
Iwas getting 500K with the rubbish Home Hub and 1.6 meg (after several reconnects each time to get it) on the netgear, slightly more on the 3com.
My initial impressions: delighted.
