Connection Speed 12287 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 27.5 db 15.6 db

and im 786 metres from the exchange

      Thanks in advance

You are not getting the full 16 because you have been capped, due no doubt to noise on your line. Post your stats from the Test socket, link below, for an idea on where he problem is. If you can clear up the noise on your line you may get 16Mb, but 20 is way out of reach with your attenuation.

      Re: 20 meg question

your line attenuation seems to increase when plugged into the test socket?? not sure that is very normal although its only a small amount i'd have expected it to be less if anything at all.
Are you just plugging a filter into the test socket then straight into the modem with the short modem lead supplied?

      Re: 20 meg question

There may be a problem with your internal wiring, although your noise margin has gone up when you plugged back into the faceplate, this may not last and may quickly fall again. Plug into your Test socket and phone Sky and ask them to trouble-shoot your line for speed as you have made wiring improvements and are sure it can get more. What they will do will depend on who you get if you are lucky you may get 15-16 Mb. Call late about 10.30pm for the best chance of getting something done.

If Sky manage to up your speed, it will be worth fitting a filtered face plate to allow full use of your phone wiring.

I have tried it 3 different ways

1st was the normal setup using the test socket, 2nd was without a extension and the 2rd which i just did was taking the modem downstairs and plugging a splitter directly into the test socket then the modem into the splitter and that came up with the same stats as above

      Re: 20 meg question

When you take off the front face to reveal the test socket, were all the other phone extensions dead? Also, when you have it off ensure that there are no wires into terminal 3, if there are, pull them up and out.

No the extension wasn't dead because the internet was working. Do you mean wires connected to the actual front face?

I have none of them but have alot inside the box, should i remove terminal 3 inside if its in there?

      Re: 20 meg question

If the wire is connected to terminal 3 on the faceplate then disconnect it, you only need terminals 2 & 5 connected.
