      IANTE
He has improved his wiring and is entitled to have the cap on his line lifted, at least to 16Mb. Some have had their speed increased above this, so it looks like this is one time they don't want to get you on the line.

      Re: SkyMax (Unlimited?)

in which case the procecss is to restart DLM, after a setup has been resolved...BT's system does it and Sky agents are meant to do the same...manual config is soon to be a last resort...

and there's proof of 1 person getting it done, outside of process, and if found out said agent is likely to be either be on written warning or (worst case) sacked...I won't risk my job for anyone, regardless how much they kick off

I've found tickets where agents have manually configured a brand new connection (within hours of going live) and have had to reset the line and put DLM on...it's in the letter's customers receive so there's no excuse for people to call in complaining...and if someone says they didn't get it we can just check their account as all corespondences are on record...

      Re: SkyMax (Unlimited?)

I will let you guys know the speeds I manage (although i doubt they would be better than previously).

I moved home and had to have the broadband cancelled / reconnected for my new address. The distance from the exchange is pretty much the same and judging by the stats at my folks-in-law (around 41-45dB attenuation) the speed should be around 8-9Mbit as i got before.

Due to the fact of timing on my part i was signed up to the "unlimited" package advertised to me at up to 20Mbit, I'll let you know what happens DLM-wise etc..

      Re: SkyMax (Unlimited?)

Hi, new to the forum, I hope this is the right thread for this!

I'm still apparently in testing mode (for another 24 hours) and my current stats are:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12287 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 17.5 db 9.2 db
Noise Margin 17.5 db 7.5 db

I believe the numbers are quite reasonable as far as I understand these things; however at one point previously my speed test were hitting 18/19 mbps and they now seem to have stabilised at around 10/11.

Should I expect more? I'm 500 meters from the exchange and amm using the master socket with a good quality cable.

I've tried the test socket but it didn't improve anything. I had hoped to get near the max speed...

Sky customer support told me what a wonderful spped it was and that I should be very happy! I think they missed the point somewhat!

You should see 20mb when DLM finishes.

If you don't with those stats. god knows what the rest of us will end up with when we get DLM'ed

      Re: SkyMax (Unlimited?)

I figured the stats were ok, having suffered an average BT connection for years I never really looked into the detail before.

Nice to know, I'll post again when the DLM is done, hopefully tommorrow!

      Re: SkyMax (Unlimited?)

Finished testing and got the results!

Line connection testing completed on 07/07/2009

      Download Speed
Your connection has been set to a download speed of up to
      12.0Mb (12288Kb)

      Upload Speed
Your connection has been set to an upload speed of up to
      1.3Mb (1312Kb)

With the stats below I'm inclined to find that a little dissapointing. I've monitored speeds through speedtest.net and for the first few days I was regularly getting anything from 18 to 25.9 Mb download. I've been rock solid on the current figures for 4 or 5 days now so I really think I ought to be getting more...

      Call me cynical!

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12287 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 17.5 db 9.2 db
Noise Margin 17.8 db 7.5 db

Well if that's the best DLM can do then god help us all!

You need to ring Sky, your line will easily hit 20mb and get them to remove the cap and suspend DLM

exactly, just DLM not doing something right but a quick call to CST will have you sorted!!

so ignore some of my other post where you were asking about cancelling - other than cancelling cause speeds aren't quite fast enough at 1MB/sec...

      Re: SkyMax (Unlimited?)

IANTE, I must admit after seein such a good line being crippled by DLM I am starting to get concerned about my line. It is stable at 16mb, I had CST reduce the max delays and they tried to drop the speed to 13mb to be sure but I insisted that they put it back up for me to monitor, I have never had any problems with dropouts etc.

My noise margin is above 7db so not problems there but if DLM does to me and others what it has just done to the OP we're screwed and you lot are going to be VERY bust manually configuring lines.
