Wondering if I could get a better speed.
These are my router stats (from a laptop connected wirelessly at 2.37PM on Monday):
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2240 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 52.5 db 33.7 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 11.5 db
Here are the other info from the router if you need it:
System Up Time 00:04:11
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 3497 5239 0 5382 30532 00:03:30
LAN 10M/100M 634 670 0 580 441 00:04:08
WLAN 11M/54M 5274 3894 0 27339 4766 00:04:00
Here is a speed test (taked same time):
I have the white router and on the Mid Sky Package. (5 quid a month). I have my router attached to an extension socket (with a filter ofc).
I know little about this kinda stuff, and I see that my Noise Margin and Line Attenuation are decent, therefore I was wondering would it be possible to get a better speed? What would I need to do to improve it?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Wondering if I could get a better speed.
Your line stats indicate that your line attenuation @53.5db is approx 3.84km from the exchange. You could achieve the speeds below. Noise margin is ok.
If you have a NTE5 master socket, the one with the split face plate and test socket beind. Then connect directly to the test socket and take your stats again and post here. By running from the test socket illuminates your extension out of the equation.
dslMAX 4128kbps IP Profile 3500kbps
adsl2+ (21CN) 4320kbps IP Profile 3500kbps
adsl2+ (LLU) kbps4320 Throughput 3823kbps

Re: Wondering if I could get a better speed.
Hi, this is how my master socket looks, Im not sure what kind it is:
Here it is with the face plate open, so you can see the test socket:
What are you looking for by me testing the test socket, because it is a bit of an effort to test it, as it is behind some furniture (I took that picture a while ago) and I dont really have time now, I could do it for you after the exams. Also bare in mind, my router has to stay in the extension socket for long term, as it is Ethernet connected to my desktop.

Re: Wondering if I could get a better speed.
Testing at the test socket eliminates problems you may have due to poor extension wiring, from your picture there are three extensions coming off the master.
When you have established a benchmark speed then you can take additional steps to improve the performance of your connection.
The biggest improvement will probably be achieved by removing the connection to pin 3 (bell wire) from the extensions where they connect on the back of the faceplate.
Best of luck with the exams.

Re: Wondering if I could get a better speed.
Your noise margin shows that you are getting as much as the line can handle at the moment. If there is a large rise in this margin, or in your connection speed, when you plug into the Test socket this will show if your internal wiring is holding your speed back. It will then be up to you whether you want to make this improvement permanent.
While the faceplate is off the Master socket, check that all your extensions are dead, as they should be.
