      Mid package, only getting 3mb

Sometimes we drop down to more like 1.5 mb but that only lasts for 5 minutes so i suspect thats something to do with busy servers or something so that doesn't really bother me. What is anoying however is how we're paying 5 a month to get 8 mb and we're only getting 1 mb more than we would if we were free, wheres the logic in this? Fair enough if we lived in a castle in scotland and you had to send pigeons to communicate to the nearest town, but i live approximately 1 mile from luton town center...surely i should be getting better speeds than this, especially when my friend lives in barton and gets the full 8 mbs...Ive changed the filters on the wall many times and ive even changed the line that goes from the router to the wall so i doubt it is a problem like this. Any other suggestions? could the wiring in our walls be faulty or something? or is it simply something i should ring sky about? id appriciate any responces.

you need to post router stats on attenuation and margins also check for test socket to access router type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar in browser then username admin password sky (both in lower case) you can find readings in there

Re: Mid package, only getting 3mb

Can you post the stats from the Test socket for comparison? Just the last section containing the Connection speed, Attenuation and noise margin.

You have a serious noise problem on your line, but hopefully it is confined to your internal wiring. Your line should be capable of 6-8Mbs.
