Yeah i know about the traffic managment mate but im not even getting 1mb after 5 which i think is ridiculous.Sky aret giving me sustainable quality broadband service as they put it.I dont download or anything during peek times i could't if i wanted to as my speeds are so crap.To not even get 1mb weather peek time or not is not good enough when im paying for 8mb.basically come 5pm im getting dial up speeds which is totally uneceptable when im on 8mb broadband no matter wot package or isp im with

my speeds now massive diffrence but no good to me at this time of nite

As Steve says your suffering from Connect throttling. There is nothing you can do except keep complaining to Sky or leave and find another ISP.

You should be syncing higher with your attenuation and noise margin, but that is of small concern compared to the throttling.

      Re: Sky Connect speed?

Isitme would you belive it sky have just rang me it was a tier 3 member i think they have reset my counter for me and say things should go back to normal now. They told me that 2 weeks ago i'd aceeded my daily use of 1gb download limit and that even if im on unlimted a month if i download more then 1gb aday which in honset i did on the dates they said that my speeds will be slower then normal.Thing is i only aceeded these limits slightly so i told them that it was still unfair to cap me as much as they have been doing especially for so long considering this happend over 2 weeks ago.So i'll give them benifit of the doubt and see if things improve over next few weeks

      Re: Sky Connect speed?

I don't quite get this 1Gb limit per day, I have also seen 1,3 quoted, Does this mean if you download virtually nothing for 10 days then download 2 Gb, you get throttled? If they are applying a limit to download it should be done on a monthly basis, where they warn you if you are likely to exceed your limit when your total reaches maybe 75%. It is just another reason why no one in their right mind should sign up for Connect, unfortunately Sky don't make their conditions clear so many are suckered in.

Well wot i could gather from wot the guy said they throttle you if you constantley acceed your daily limit. In fairness my problems started after i downloaded 12gb in 4 days.I agree with you vo sky should warn you with a email or phonecall to let you know that your constantley going over limit so at least you know were you stand.Anyway going to give it a week or 2 and if things dont improve guna give o2 ago

Heh, wow my thread is still going.

I've put up with a constant 0.5mb connection for a month as I had A2 exams going on, and didn't really want to mess around, although i'll be giving them a ring tonight to see if I can get it back up to speed.
