On line gaming and my ping(help please)

      Hello,
If somebody could help/enlighten me or explain what it means I would be grateful here goes:

Just started play on line games( call of duty 4 on my ps3) I have tested my ping on speedtest.net(London) and it`s about 60-80ms most of the time,If I test it through the CMD line test I get 32ms on google.co.uk. on average.that is wired or wireless

So my questions are.1: is.32ms on google good enough not to worry about lag on gaming ? 2:wired and wireless get roughly the same result should I bother buying a network cable for my PS3 any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would never rely on wireless for gaming, it's too prone to interference and speed loss. Always use ethernet where possible and if you aren't seeing any lag issues in the game then don't worry about it.

the lower the ping the better but what you also have to realize is the distant from were you are playing to the server could be half way round the world

      your ping is fine

it would go up if you were playing on a server in the USA, China, India, that sort of distant would go up a lot...would probably be in the 100s-200s

i play dutch servers and my ping is always around 70-80...UK 20-40.

Have you asked Sky to reduce your delays? Many find that this makes a big difference.
