    test socket

    This is a discussion on test socket within the Speed tests and how to get better results forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; is it ok to be pluged into the test socket 24/7 or should i be pluged into a normal socket ...

      test socket

      is it ok to be pluged into the test socket 24/7 or should i be pluged into a normal socket many thanks for any replys

      If its not a problem for you to have the front master socket disconnected then no, you will get the best results from being in the test socket.

      can you still plug the microfilters into the test socket... so i would have the phone, adsl and sky+ plugged into the test socket?!?

      If you are plugging direct into the test socket, you would need an adapter of some description, so as to use the three connecting leads.

      As for using a filter direct into the test socket - I can't see no reason why not. It just wouldn't look very tidy.

      If you are plugging into the test socket your extensions will not work. If they do, then something is wrong with your wiring. If you have no extensions, there is very little to be gained from using the test socket, unless your faceplate is faulty.
      If you have extensions the best solution is this -
      XTE-2005 Filtered Master Faceplate - ADSL Nation (other makes available)
