Try another set from your test socket with a filter.

Re: is there anything i can do

As you are on Connect all you can do is phone Sky and ask them to trouble shoot your connection. Before doing so go to BT Performance Tester enter your phone number then your ADSL username. This will do an official BT speed test and show your present profile. Your ADSL username is <the LAN MAC number of your router, no colons, followed by> @skydsl This will give you your sync speed, profile and throughput, which you can use when talking to Sky.

Try another set from your test socket with a filter.
I can't see what difference that will make as he already has a high noise margin

      these are my stats now
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2784 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 56 db 31 db
Noise Margin 12 db 21 db
but the noise margin will drop tonight to anywhere between 6-1db,
it happens every night between 7-8 pm till about midnight there is nothing that happens in my house or street which explanes why it does it.
i have been on to sky and bt about it but they wont do anything about it they said i will just have to put up with it

On LLU you could be getting 3-5Mb, if there is an LLU provider on your exchange they may be worth a look. Connect is a dismal package at the moment, where Sky and BT blame one and other for problems.

Re: is there anything i can do

my exchange is not unbundled so its either bt or sky its a rural exchange.
the thing i cant understand is i was on a 2mb fixed line with bt for years then about a 1 1/2 years ago a bt line test said i could get between 3-4mb. so i changed on to a max product when in the 10day settling period it changed to 2mb being my max speed so i went back to the 2mb fixed line. within a month of me going on to a fixed line a line test said i could get 3-4mb again so i changed to sky and guess what thats right 2mb, but now the line test says i should only get 1.5mb work that one out im sure be just like to mess people around.
sorry for the long winded message
