new to sky max...oh dear
hi...have been reading this forum with interest...just got the sky max broadband package mainly as unlimited and i didnt expect to get 16mb...especially as they sent a letter to say can only support 5.5mb...fair enough as i do most of my downloading when asleep and internet and you tube and stuff is relitively good....but....
speedchecker says download 312 kbps
upload 337kbps
says im likely to get 4mb max via adsl and am 2114metres from exchange
also my router stats say 372 down 412 up
line attenuation 41db and 25 db down and up
and noise margin...which someone mentioned i can contact sky to change....
down 31db, 22db up which ive been told is high...ive only had connection for a few days but should i be worried and contact sky or leave it for a bit...i am on wireless as well due to the layout of the house (well the missus!!)cables not feasible
cheers all

Your line is very heavily capped, probably due to DLM. Phone Sky and tell them your connection is so slow you can hardly use it, which can't be far from the truth, could they suspend DLM as it does not seem to be working. If you are lucky, you will get an agent who understands and will pass you to CST right away and they will fix you in minutes.
When you phone be plugged into your Test socket, link below, if you have one and this may save you a call back. Calling after 10.30pm is said to be the best time. With a bit of luck you will see 7-8Mb.

thanks
thanks to everyone for the advice ..i sent an e-mail via the my sky service mentioning all of the above and amazingly within 2 hours got an e-mail back saying tweaks had been done...well done sky..
my stats are now
downstream 4096 kbps upstream 768 kbps
noise margin 12db upstream 10db(in the morning)
my question is...is that it...or should i ask them to lower the noise margin further or is that risky for the evening traffic
have also done tcp optimizer which made no difference...any other tweaks
thanks again everyone your all great!!!

It looks like you still have a bit of speed in hand. Give it a couple of days and if your noise margin stays high, contact them to see if they can lift the cap a bit more.
