New to SkyMAX, within 10 day period.

Hello, just a small question before work. I have been connected since the 31st of last month, and it sync'd at 6400ish, next day it was sync'd at 7005 (which I was happy with), noticed a couple of disconnects, but nothing too major. Now, I am connected at the following:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6141 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 42 db 23 db
Noise Margin 13 db 16 db

I know it's not such a bad speed, as it was around what I got with my pervious BB company, but it's like sky are teasing me with the extra speed, then taking it away from me... Why sky? Whhyyy?

Just any ideas? I have a filtered faceplate, and I have tried it in the test line, with exactly the same results.

      Thank's for reading.

Sky are probably just testing your speed to see how stable your line is before making it permanent.

Take a set of stats from the test socket and a set from the faceplate and post them up, this is just DLM adjusting the line settings. If you aren't happy with the speeds a call to bb tier 1 or a kana form may help.

Have Sky stopped advising new users that DLM will be on their connection for at least 10 days?

As it stands the OP should get pretty near 8Mb when the line is settled

It was exactly the same when I checked before, don't wanna keep on testing it while Sky are testing.

Re: New to SkyMAX, within 10 day period.

I just thought that they would first check the max of ya line first, then keep reducing it until they reached a point, then test little bits. I don't know. I guess that's why sky is testing the line, and i'm not!

As long as you know what you are looking for, that is OK. Just remember your speed will probably be the same, it is the rest that is important. Disconnecting once or twice should not upset DLM too much.

That is what does happen, if problems are found the speed is reduced until the line stabilises. It does not always work too well

Also, changing the subject slightly, I have an older DG834GT lying about, which I liked the interface better of, would it be so bad if I used this instead? Well after the DLM I mean.
