That's even worse, I am afraid it confirms you external line or the exchange has a fault.

I don't think there is anything you can do, unless someone else has a suggestion. As I said before if the voice side is OK, BT will do nothing and as you are getting a reasonable speed, Sky will do nothing.

You could ring BT to get the fault fixed, but they would probably charge you to find and fix the fault. Knowing BT that wouldn't be cheap. Other than that you would have to live with that speed, unless you developed a voice line fault.

One last thing just to be sure, when you remove the front off the master socket to reveal the test socket do all the other phone extensions go dead?

They should unless they have been wired to the very back of the socket (a&b)

If they do and you only have two wires connected at the back of the main socket then as the others have said, your stuffed unless you can convince BT there is a line fault on the voice side (can you crackel crackle)

Be aware though that if they find your at fault you may get a bill for it.

Well, there is only an extention plugged into the filter, that connects all the phones.

There is 2 wires going into the bottom of the test socket, I have no idea where they go to, it's somewhere in the house though. I will do some snooping later.

Re: New to SkyMAX, within 10 day period.

Any extensions should be connected to the No 2 and 5 terminals of the faceplate. If there are other wires coming from behind the part that hold the Test socket, there should not be. Take off the part with the test socket on it and behind this you will find the A and B terminals. These are the main connections to your external line, if there are more than one wire connected to each terminal take the others off. You will have to trace back to find out which are the incoming wires.

Sometimes alarm fitters will fit the alarm in this way and if there has been an alarm in your house, these may be the remnants. If you have never had an alarm, they may be going to an undiscovered extension and are incorrectly fitted.

Re: New to SkyMAX, within 10 day period.

      Hi,

I've just had my Sky Broadband enabled. I was originally quoted 14mb by both Sky and O2 (Went with Sky).

However I seem to be connecting really slow.

      How do these stats look??

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5709 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 39.0 db 18.8 db
Noise Margin 6.3 db 15.5 db
