The DG834GT is a superior router in my opinion, but get your line sorted out before you even consider changing.

You have only a couple of days of DLM training to go, if your speed does not rise to 7-8Mb, phone Sky and ask them to reconfigure your line as DLM has left it very low.
On second thoughts, as you have been running it for over a week, you could try phoning them tonight and see if they will fix you up, they may fob you off, but it is worth a try.

You just take pot luck! It is said to be better to phone after 10.30 pm, queues are shorter and you are more likely to get a UK based agent. Some of the Asia based agents are OK but others can be very frustrating. Remember to be plugged into your Test socket when you phone, or at least, be prepared to say you are.

Where has your noise margin gone?
Have you plugged something else into the phone line without a filter? Did you speak to Sky?

Try plugging into your Test socket again.

Nothing on our line without a filter. Noise margin keeps fluctuating... This it it at the moment...

Connection Speed 6140 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 42 db 23 db
Noise Margin 10 db 15 db

(This is from the test socket, but is exactly the same as through filtered socket).

Re: New to SkyMAX, within 10 day period.

Very occasionally filtered faceplates fail, but it looks like yours is OK. With a filtered faceplate you don't need filters in the other sockets, my mistake.
Some fault in your external line must be causing the fluctuations and low sync speed. Unfortunately if it is not effecting your voice line it is almost impossible to get anything done about it. As it is a large fluctuation, 6 to 7 dbs, capping your line is the only way it will remain stable. They might be able to squeeze a few more Ks out of it, but whether it would be worth it is doubtful.

There is an outside chance that your router is faulty, but the only way to check this would be to try another one.
