      Re: - QuestionAble Speed - (?)

      - have just spoke to a TechNician at Sky - Who told me that for Unknown Reasons the DLM had Configured my Line that Way - Essentially capping my Speed... -

      - the Technician then did what he does & my Current Stats are as Follows... -

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4992 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 45 db 25 db
Noise Margin 15 db 24 db

      - Massive Improvement -

      - The Tech.. also told me that the Line Will Stabilize over the Next 24 Hours or so & i'll Probably be Receiving a further Increase in Speed - Probably up to 5 MBps -

      - Obviously i'm Chuffed -

      - thanks for All your Help -

      - in regards to the Drop in Noise Margin... - Do You advise that i reconnect the wire to terminal 3 then - (?)

      No

Your still capped, give it a day or so and post your stats again. Another call to Sky may see 6-7Mb.

No. Leave it as it is. Your stats show that you could get even more, possibly another 2Mb or so. I would leave things as they are for now and check your stats in about a week, if your noise margin is still in double figures, phone up and ask them if they can lift the cap again.
It is possible that simply rebooting your router will connect you at a higher speed, it just depends how the Sky guy has configured it.

Edit - I forgot to say Hip Hip Hooray.

      - You've ALL been Brilliant - much obliged - ...!

      - regarding this issue that remains with the Noise Margin... - Should i Disconnect the wire connected to terminal 4 in the Master Socket to see if that makes any improvement - (?)

You can pull it off but I don't think it will make much difference. I don't think this wire is used in domestic circuits.

      - The Router stats have remained the same since the Technician made the Changes... -

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4992 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 45 db 25 db
Noise Margin 14 db 24 db

      - there has been no fluctuation... - would i be right in thinking that this would be indicative of there being a - 'Cap' - (?)

      - the difference in speed now is INCREDIBLE - i am very happy - there is no Buffering on Sites such as YouTube - my BroadBand Experience is so much Better -

      - but i can't forget that - 'O2' - suggest that they could give me speeds up to 13MB -

      - & also there seems to be the issue of - 'Capping' - from Sky - meaning that they are Limiting what i can get even When i am Paying for the MAX Package -

      - i mean i'm Happy with what i have now got... - but if i can get more for my money then of course i'd rather do that -

      Re: - QuestionAble Speed - (?)

you will NOT get 13Mbps with that attenuation...

regarding the capping - you could just ask Sky to uncap you completely - then what you get is what you get...

      - Hi All... -

      - so my Stats are Staying the Same... - There has been no Fluctuation whatsoever with the DownStream Connection Speed... - so i'm assuming that this is indicative that it has been Capped at this speed - 4992kbps - wondering if you think it a good idea to ask to be uncapped - (?)

      - What are the issues/risks that may arise with uncapping... - if any - (?)

      - & if it's recommended that i ask to be uncapped... - how should i Phrase the question - Given that i'm on the Max Package & have been given an estimate of 13GB DownStream from - 'O2' - (?)

      - thanks again -

      Re: - QuestionAble Speed - (?)

Phone Sky, tell them you have made improvements to your wiring and would like the cap removed from your line. (it does not matter that you have not made any improvements)

You may be told by T1 that your line cannot take any more speed, if so, ask politely if you can be put through to CST as you are certain it can as you have a very high noise margin.

As has been said before, you will not get anything like 13MB, more like 7-9 if you are lucky. If you can get O2 to put a firm estimate of 13Mb in writing, move to them, then sue them when they fail.
