      Need Help

      Hi there

i have a question i am paying for a 16mb connection on Sky Broadbands Max Section. Now before you say i have tried it on both wireless and wired connection.

Basically on the site it says the average speed for my connection should be...

      6375.34 - Download
      514.27 - Upload

But when I check my speed because i thought it had been slow for awhile but finally got round to checking it my results where as followed

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 896 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 50.0 db 30.5 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 10.0 db

As you can see I get the upload speed but I dont get no where near the download speed. It doesnt even hit a 1mb connection I have tested numerous speed test sites including skys own test. Both wireless and wired come out near the same ovibously wirelessly abit slower

i hope someone can shread some light on this before i contact sky myself. o btw this is also a direct connection to the fone line..

      thank you

      nathan

Is this in the test or master ? Try in the test socket, and then post stats. Look at linky below to show where test socket it.

      Re: Need Help

Also you should be aware that SkyMax is upto 16Mb, with those stats you will never get close to it.

Sky connect is a BT rebadged product and is upto 8Mb and you wont get near that with the stats you have.

Your stats should see around 6Mb on a good line.

      Re: Need Help

do you have to use the master socket for the best broadband signal cuz in my house the router is running off another box.. the master one is the one in two halves isnt it. I tried pluggin it in but the router status keep showing ADSL down and ADSL Training ???

I will have to try the test socket tomorrow but does it matter which box i use?

      Re: Need Help

The test socket should give you the best case senario for you stats as it removes the existing house wiring which is the main cause of fault caused slow connections.

When you remove the front face, check that the other extensions are dead, if not you have got the sockets wired incorrectly and this could have a dramatic effect on the speeds and stats. Alo remove any wires from terminal 3, you don't need it and it can cause poor stats.

Ideally you should connect the router to a filtered faceplate at the master socket and run it from there using either wires, homeplugs or last of all wireless.

      Re: Need Help

I am getting abit annoyed... right

So i tried it off the master socket......nothing keeped getting ADSL Line Down and ADSL Training on my router status...

It also the same on my Test Socket..

But yet when I put it in the socket its always been in it works fine :S
