On the phone to Sky now. After going through the arduous process of checking netstat and Anti Virus, blah blah, they are escalating to CST.

They really do treat all their users as those with no technical expertise.

It's a shame they don't give an option to say that "I actually know what I'm talking about, please don't give me all the donkey questions" - But meh, that's more expensive, and they'd have to cater for just the majority of their users, so I understand

If your still synced at 10236 then I would ignore that speedtest as that site is not very reliable and that's faster than you are connected.

Try the one on here or better still download a large file from a good site (Microsoft) to get a better indication

Re: New User here... strange numbers

I sync'ed at 14596 to begin with, but the Sagem router dropped it's connection a few times, and then decided to drop the sync rate with it. Great.
This how DLM works, it will drop the rate until the line is stable. Unfortunately it sometimes drops the speed more than really necessary. Your last stats appear to indicate that you have been left with a cap of 10236Kbps, which is a bit less than your line can handle. The only way you will get this up, is to ask Sky to take you off DLM and allow the line to sync at it's maximum.

In saying that, your attenuation (with the Sagem) should support about 14 Mbs. If you are using a filtered faceplate, it would seem your external line is to blame. Do you get any noise with your voice calls. Also when you remove the faceplate, is your other socket dead?

No I am now synced at 16381

CST are awesome, the guy was on my level and said "Ohhh, it looks like you'll get 16"

So he tried it, suspended DLM and now it is back on... but 16381 is my sync

      1.7MB/s !

I replaced the faceplate for a filtered one, and removed the extension.

This was earlier in the week, when it must have settled on 10236.

Ater speaking to CST, the guy was more than happy to put it on 16.
