I love it as it does what I want...

I don't play games (prefer going out/sport personally), so don't need to worry about that, and all my old software from using XP either works fine or has a new version for Vista. I don't use wireless, but that's universal for any OS, and after setting to OpenDNS/DMZ and getting a non-intrusive anti-virus/firewall it ticks along nicely...

Not had the pleasure of trying to use it on a domain yet but setting up a server soon to try and understand it better. That should be interesting if previous posts are to go by!!

DLM Dynamic Line Management tries to optimise your broadband connection for speed and stability.
If you read elsewhere a lot of folks are having problems as a result of Sky running trials with it.
BT already use it, its what the 10 day training period is all about.

why do sky have to do it lol

but what i cant quite get my head aorund is that the laptop with the tcp optimizer is running speeds of like 11mpbs, whereas the computer with vista which does not work with tcp optimiser is only pulling speed of like 4 mpbs

both of these machines are like running wireless but the only difference is that laptop is on xp and pc on vista

do you reckon i sort it out?

Your laptop is not running at 11mbps, what you are looking at is the speed of the wireless connection between your router and the laptop.
As you have previously posted you are synchronising at 4mbps or so.

Now I'm confused, if your router is syncing at 4mbps thats the maximum download you will get. Is this still the case?
Sometimes firewalls can cause false speed readings though.

      Re: HELPPP please...:(

oh sorry i think i have just confused my self here, i have just run several sped checks on the laptop and on the computer and they both coming out at the same shameful 4mbps. I think somebody suggested at the top changing the channel would that achieve anything. I am very disappointed because i do not no why my speed has just dropped all of a sudden, like 4 days ago i was like getting 10-11mpbs on speed check, my dl speed on my router stats were like 16. But now all of a sudden they have just dropped to like 4. At first i thought it was because i installed vista, but i no that is not the case anymore. What do you reckon i should do now?

Many thanks for helping me i really have appreciated that!

As you are on DLM you need to wait out the 10 - 20 days to let it complete. Don't fiddle with the router, causing restarts and errors. DLM will mis-read your state and set you to a low speed. See the DLM thread on this forum for all the info rather than start another DLM chat on this one
