      Poor speeds last few nights?

After enjoying reasonable speeds with my Sky Connect service since joining just over a month ago (average speeds approx 5.3mbps off a sync speed of 7964kbps) my speeds have dropped dramatically the last few days.

I'm still syncing at 7964 but my actual speeds running various speed testers is being measured in the hundreds of kbps (e.g. 446 kbps tonight). I'm assuming rightly or wrongly this is about traffic volumes and contention ratios? Is there nothing that can be done about it though - I can't stream iPlayer or anything similar at such speeds. Will phoning Sky just fall on deaf ears?

Ethernet or wireless? Any firewalls installed that might be impacting the speed? Have you cleared out your temporary internet files recently and what speed test are you running?

Ethernet and Wireless - tried running tests on all 3 of my computers and all with very similar results - I have tried this sites speed tester, Think Broadbands, Znets etc. etc. Run tests from master as well with no difference and router syncing just shy of 8 meg. Either BT are throttling the line, though as I'm only a light user I couldn't think why they would, something has gone awry at the exchange, or as I said it's traffic volumes and or contention ratios.

Don't fancy phoning Sky though as I will only get some half wit who will read from a script.

Looks like traffic shaping to me. Sadly its the way Bt work and not something specific you have done

wouldn't be Phorm as Sky aren't using it - AND it's meant to be voluntary...

have to say though, mine is all over the place - yet THIS works fine...weird...

Well I phoned Sky without any real hope of a resolution but in fairness they checked my system and agreed it was top notch and said they would contact BT to enquire if there was an issue. Got home this evening and I'm now hitting 6 meg - well done to someone then!
