Which speed test is more accurate?

      Speedtest.net gives me a result of 6798Kbps down / 315Kbps up

Skyuser Broadband Speed Tester gives me results of 3944Kbps down / 304Kbps up

I don't expect them to be identical, but why is there such a wide variation?
Is the Skyuser server on a slow connection?

My previous ISP Plusnet gave me about 6450Kbps down / 371Kbps up according to Speedtest.net.

Re: Which speed test is more accurate?

I just tried the namsco one i averaged 1.5mb, pity really because i am actually paying for sky max package which sky says gives the user a potential 16mb, also i have gone from an average of around 5/6mb to a miserable 1.5mb, whats going on sky broadband?

Re: Which speed test is more accurate?

Speed-test sites are only as good as the bandwidth available
to there servers at that particular time of the day

the best speed-test you can do is go to the router status page
and get the stats from there

once you know that line speed you can then determine the throughput
      speed you should be seeing.

      Another old post resurrected!

I think speedtest.net is crap and speedio not far behind it. IP Details.com : Internet Speed test is speedtest.net, so it is not likely to be much better.

There is a new 'kid on the block' in Top 10 Broadband Best Broadband Deals - 250+ Cheap Deals & Offers. Best Broadband Comparison - Mobile Broadband, ADSL & Cable I believe its servers went down yesterday which does not say a lot to recommend it, although it may have been a temporary glitch..

I have always found Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester to be the most consistent.
