I have just plugged the phone into the socket with the router unplugged and made a call, it was very clear. Tried again using the main socket and again clear. Now the router is plugged into the main socket and phone in the extension and bacground noise is present. Using new filters.

      Re: Regret joining Sky

Just plug the router and phone into the main socket, remove the extension for now, if you have a test socket available on the main socket use that to minimise what is impacting the line circuit. Is there noise? If not leave it like that and call Sky as you are probably capped at the moments so nothing will cause your speed to increase without a call to be troubleshot for slow speed.
If there is noise then you need to tell the sky tier 1 agent that with the router on the line you are getting noise on the line, you have checked and replaced filters but it is still there.

      Re: Regret joining Sky

Today I made a complaint and informed them I will cancel unless they inform me what the problem is and what they are going to do about it, at the end of the day I am paying 17 each month for a useless service.
I have got the router plugged into the test socket with no performance difference, I have been informed that the line has failed several line tests and an engineer is being sent out. (should be free as the test socket is as bad).

The tech support guy was very helpfull which is refreshing,

Well if the line has failed tests then that is the issue, is it a BT line and did they say where it failed?

      Re: Regret joining Sky

I think this is a big problem for sky as they tend to get blamed straight away when its not their fault. Yes i had problems in the very beginning and found out that it was the way my phones were wired up, but checked first before laying blame. No i do not work for sky either. lol

No they did not mention where it failed but BT did reject the first request for the line to be seen by an engineer.
Sky tech support asked me to ensure that both phone and router are connected to the BT test socket as BT have charged people in the past for a call out.
It seems BT are reluctant to help third party BB suppliers?
