You have to appreciate though that ADSL uses a phone line. Phone lines aren't designed for ADSL but for voice. Why are master sockets downstairs? Because that's traditionally where people had their one phone.

No, the filtered faceplate can only filter out induced noise in the line beyond where it is fitted. It can do nothing to filter out competing wireless signals. Wireless is generally a very poor way to connect to a router, whatever the marketing hype promise.

By all means keep throwing up objections to the advice given but the fact remains, if you want to improve your ADSL signal you'll have to make changes.
