if you look at the speed diff, you will see sky was way out on what i can get.
nothing has changed, only the isp.
wish i was in a sky active area, maybe i would not of been sat here moneing about speed!

what do you mean 'sky active'? thats just a service and nothing to do with BB...i think you mean you'd be 'offnet' (Connect) and not 'onnet' (Base/Mid/Max)...

Re: Speed Dropping From Sky BB Activated

sky have 2 bands for bb
a sky active 'network coverage' area (big citys normally)
and a none sky active (sky have to go via a old bt server) area....
the top one been the one you get for around 5
and the bottom for around 17-20
if u are in the top 'active' area, you have a good change your speed will be the same or normally better than you had b4.
the second one depends on what happens when good old bt install the stuff there end. so anything from 1-8mb if you lucky.. in my case my speed went down, not up, so was unhappy, as sky said i should of got the same or better than i had (5mb) and i did not i got 2mb max... even up untill i changed i was still on 2mb, so was past any training...

Re: Speed Dropping From Sky BB Activated

^ uh no - that's not how it works at all...

there is Connect, which is a rebranded BT service for 17 a month unless your exchange is to be 'unbundled' within 6 months or so, in which case you get it for 5 a month. This is often referred to as 'offnet' or 'option 4'

the other option is called 'onnet' or 'option 2' which is where Sky have their own gear in the exchange and the 3 products are Base (free, speed up 2Mbps, 2GB a month), Mid (5 a month, up to 8Mbps, 40GB a month) and Max (10 a month, up to 16Mbps, *unlimited downloads)

      *subject to FUP...

Re: Speed Dropping From Sky BB Activated

ok np, which ever it is, anyhow in my case when the equipment was put into the exchange the speed for me dropped a lot.. which is the first time ever i have gone down in speed and not up or the same..
so as i said i have now cancled as i was not happy paying 17 for less than 2mb and no garentee i would ever get more in the 12 months i had to keep sky bb..
besides that sky was fine in most ways..
all i was stateing in my comments is to be aware that the speed of your bb can go down not up like most on sky seem to get, so to make people aware to really think of what to do b4 changeing to sky for the bb..
a lot of my friends went to sky same time as me, but they are in a city, so there speeds went up or stayed the same..
if i had gone up in speed or been around the same, i would not of been posting on this forum.
