      Whats Happened!

      Hi
can anyone offer any help or an explanation.
I have been with sky BB now for around 2 months & have been & still am Happy with the service, but something very strange has happened?. Last week I had a problem & had to reinstall windows XP. All went well & i am now up & running again, however today I ran a speed test on DSL Zone & found I was getting around 4160 Kbps when I used to get around 5800 Kbps. I then tried a test at Thinkbroadband. & found I was only getting around 1500Kbps when I used to get around 4500Kbps the sky tester also shows a significant drop 5meg down to 3 meg,but here's the strange thing on speedtest.net where I used to get around 5000Kbps my latest test has just shown 11596 Kbps.
I have the new Sagem router & am currently connected at 5888Kbps which makes a bit of a mockery of the Speedtest results in fact it makes me wonder just how accurate these Bandwidth Speedtesters are!. I generally Download a Test file from Zen as I find this to be more accurate, again it is showing quite a drop in speed & taking longer to download .
I should add these results are after having ran TCP optomizer also I have checked several times and always get similar results.
I know this is hardly major concern but I would be really interested if anyone had any thoughts or advice on why these test vary widely & my speeds have in general dropped.

      Re: Whats Happened!

you answered you own question - bandwidth testers are notoriously inaccurate and a 'real' download will give a much better indication of speed...
