Would I be better going wireless

      Hi,
I have my router setup, but unfortunately it has to be a fair distance from the master point in the house. This means that I have a cat 5 cable going from the master socket to the router, which is giving me a noise margin of about 7db. I don't loose my connection, however, my download speed is only just over 6 Mb and I am on the MAX package. I don't want to relocate my master socket as the property is rented and we will hopefully be moving sometime in the future. I have tried all the tips ie, using the test socket etc, but it has had no effect on my speed.
My question is, am I likely to get better speeds if I locate the router at the master socket and then connected to it via a wireless connection seeing as there only seems to be a slight drop off from wired to wireless connections. Any advice will be very welcome.
      Many thans
      Ian.

could you post your router stats, without knowing your attenuation, could not say about the speed

those stats are fine (they are the ones i was after).

in a perfect world you should see a little more speed, but i would not worry about it myself,
as for the Cat5 v Wireless, i would leave it wired myself
wireless is prone to interference which (mabey not at the mo) could affect speed and connection

That's great richone54, at least I don't have to spend any more money lol (the cat 5 was enough). Thanks for your reply and advice. It is appreciated.
