I am not too happy with my Internet speed on my Max package.I know I not gonna get 16k but at the moment I get no more than 3k wether wireless or hardwired.I play cod4 which needs good connection speeds I ping at around 80ms at best .Is it down to my BT phone lines and distance from exchange??

Use the mognuts utility to extract your router stats and post them here. They will give people a better idea of your line conditions. Dont expect too much more, maybe 1/2 to 1 meg max.
Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4
Your line attenuation is linked to distance from the exchange, the further away the higher it gets, your pings could be reduced by altering the interleaving delay but you need to have a reasonably noise free line or this could make things worse. Post the stats and lets take it from there.

hi, my att is the same as yours, my modem syncs about 4500kbps. i would first suggest plugging the modem directly into the test socket to see if you stats improve.
