Yes, as I said before, the upstream with Sky Mid is lower than with Connect (384kbps vs 448kbps). Lower sync = lower upload speed.

The OP you refer to was getting less than 8meg with Connect. Moving to any of the Sky LLU packages is unlikely to improve much on that. If the attenuation would support more than 8meg (Connect is capped at 8meg) then that's what you'd get when moving to Sky Max.

      Saturday,

Sorry, I'm not sure I follow you? If you mean that if I check my line attenuation figure (33db) & compare it to this guide:-

      Attenuation.............Approximate Line Length............Potential Connection Speed
      32db...................................2.3km...... ...............................16000kbps
      35db...................................2.5km...... ...............................14500kbps
      40db...................................2.9km...... ...............................11800kbps
      45db...................................3.2km...... .................................8500kbps
      50db...................................3.6km...... .................................6500kbps
      55db...................................4.0km...... .................................4500kbps
      60db...................................4.3km...... .................................3200kbps
      65db...................................4.7km...... .................................2000kbps

Then I should (with a good SNR, mine's 10 ATM) get up to about 15500kbps

Is that what you mean? The OP ???

Edit Sorry, the above table looked o.k. before I posted it but now it's all over the place. Still, I'm sure you know what I am trying to say?

Re: Sky Tell me I've been upgraded from connect to the Mid package?

OP stands for other poster i.e. referring to your comment about "Ossie".

That table is a guide which assumes a relatively noise free line. It doesn't assume a high noise margin. A high noise margin would only happen if the router was capable of connecting at a higher sync (attenuation allowing) but the connection was capped.

If you are on G.DMT, to get above 8meg you'd have to move to ADSL2+. In doing so your attenuation would increase by 2-3db. In your case that would give you an attenuation of ~36db and a maximum possible sync of ~14000kbps depending on your line quality.

The point I was making was that if the attenuation will only support less than or equal to 8meg that will apply whether on Connect (BT ADSL Max), Sky G.DMT orSky ADSL2+. However if you're getting 8meg on Connect with a high noise margin this means you have the potential for more than this on Sky Max.

Re: Sky Tell me I've been upgraded from connect to the Mid package?

      Saturday,

Now I understand, I did not know that my line attenuation would go up a bit when changing to ADSL2+. I've now read the router stats explained sticky on your posts & am slightly better educated on the subject. I think I'll upgrade & hope it all goes well, if I can get 12000kbps I'd be reasonably happy with that, I'd just be annoyed if I was too pay the extra fee to end up getting an extra 500kbps or something

Many thanks for your help & advice.!!

click the link on my sig about router stats and look for the part about 'detailed stats' - this is assuming your profile is correct and you have a V1 router

      Probably.

Your attenuation of 37.5db is capable of supporting a sync speed of ~12500kbps if your line is relatively noise free. Your router is syncing at 7597kbps, your stats show you're not capped, so the shortfall is down to a noisy line.

Fix the noise (see the cabling and faceplate help forum) and your sync will rise.

Thank You ! Will experiment to see where noise is being generated on my line.

Re: Sky Tell me I've been upgraded from connect to the Mid package?

      Hi Peeps,

I phoned Sky on Wednesday & was told that it may take up to 72 hours to me upgraded to Sky MAX. Instanlty I found that my upload speeds had doubled but my download speed, which was about 6500kbps has only gone up too 6900kbps??

These are my latest stats, Do these stats show I'm on Sky MAX? Shouldn't my mode be set to ADSL2 in that case?
