Got through to Tier 3 and can see an improvement!

Managed to get through to Tier 3 with my prince like charms, and they managed to cap me at a much higher speed, faster than a previous speed! *fingers crossed* Hope this will not be dropped, very happy with current speed. Here are my results, any comments or opinions?

They look OK. Probably borderline high for errors so see how you get on (shouldn't be an issue when the new firmware is released "soon").

BTW if your high ping comment in your sig refers to what you see recorded in that speedtest result then that's not really meaningful. Use the windows ping command (or the Mac equiv) to say the BBC for your general ping speed. If you're not happy with the result you get then you could ask Sky to lower your interleave delay, though with your line errors that could be problematical.

Thanks Saturday for reply. Yeah, my sig is old, and I have ran ping test to bbc.co.uk, and the results are ok, pings of about 65, I won't be able to see any lower than this with Sky though at my line. Oh well... BTW, NEW FIRMWARE!!!? When is it out? And what bugs and/or updates are there?

      Ok pings. (24/05/08)

Re: Got through to Tier 3 and can see an improvement!

The new firmware was possibly going to be released before Christmas but wasn't ready. My understanding is that it is now in final testing so hopefully not too long now.

I don't have any official information about what is different with it but expect it to be far more forgiving of poor quality lines and no UPnP bug.

So, disconnections should be quite unusual except in very severe circumstances.

It also looks as though Sky have locked the firmware down even harder so no more Mognuts etc.
