seriously poor connection speed
Admin note: Merged duplicate threads
Hi all.
During the last few weeks I have noticed a significant degradation of my connection speed on Connect. My downstream is poor at around 2mb (was around 4.5), but my upstream is appalling at 64kbps!
Stats:
Attenuation down: 15.5db up: 28db
Noise margin down: 13.4db Up: 6db
Sometimes a reboot of the Netgear router will fix it, but not today.
Any ideas before I waste some money on sky CS?

Re: seriously poor connection speed
Can you post your router stats, and it would help to know how you are connected, master socket or extension, wireless or wired.

Re: seriously poor connection speed
How are you plugged in, have you changed filters, anything changed on the line recently or roadworks etc in your area (crews are always digging up things they shouldn't
)

Re: seriously poor connection speed
I'm sorry but I'm not sure how to post pictures taken from 'print screen', but the main stats from my router are in my original post. What other details do you need and I will post them?
I am connected via a quality extension cable (10 mtr) into the master socket. I know it's best to avoid extensions, but nothing has changed in the last year that I've had this system with no new cables or filters being used. I think what confuses me is that up until recently a reboot has fixed the problem, but prior to two weeks ago I have had stable connections of around 4.5 down and 440 up.
Thanks.

Re: seriously poor connection speed
Just an update on this problem...
Just had a predictably pointless conversation with SKY Tech Services. They say they cannot do a line or router check because there has been an exchange problem with the connection for a lot of 'Connect' customers and this may be the cause. The worrying thing about this is that the problem was reported on 8th Dec, and they have no idea when it will be fixed!
Oh, great.
Anyone else having problems? Or does this, as I suspect, have nothing to do with my issues, but just prevents any help from them.
Time to migrate maybe.

Re: seriously poor connection speed
Thanks. Quite easy really, sorry. I was trying to be clever and paste up the whole image
System Up Time 00:33:50
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 8296 7557 0 592 3194 00:33:29
LAN 10M/100M 8250 8972 0 3308 707 00:33:48
WLAN 11M/54M 122 0 0 15 0 00:33:38
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2624 kbps 64 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.0 db 28.0 db
Noise Margin 18.2 db 6.0 db
If this is to do with the problem Sky told me about, it is simply unacceptable that it's been ongoing since Dec 8th and with no estimated fix time. It just means that TS can do nothing to check my problem. I'm trying to speak to CS about a refund, but with a 30 minute wait time, that too will have to wait.
Definitely time to think about migration. Maybe the threat of that will get them moving. Or maybe not.
Anyone else out there with Connect issues?

Re: seriously poor connection speed
as said the issues are ongoing since Dec 8th and as its BTs fault Sky are waiting on them - threatening to move will not speed it up one bit...

Re: seriously poor connection speed
No I'm sure it won't. But it will sure as hell make me feel better. this last year has been the worst experience I have ever had from an ISP over the last 12 years. My exchange shows no sign of having SKY equipment. But there are quite a few others who are in there.
