      Re: Connect... extremely frustrated!

i have just been on the phone to sky tech support about the stuck ip profile issue and the technician seemed to dismiss the idea although she did say there could either be an incorrect 'throughput threshold (currently set at 8mb)' or minor network settings... gonna have to wait till BT does their evaluation as the technician never heard of resetting the ip profile before...

i am also trying the method in the linked thread... hope that works....

thats because its not part of the Sky training - if someone is offnet (connect) they pass it to BT as its there end where the issue lies...i assume this is the same wired and wireless?

      Re: Connect... extremely frustrated!

oh i see, that explains a lot... i am running on wireless however i have tried using the etehrnet connection on several occasions but i see no difference in download speed.

i have tried to use the method described in the link by pluggin in telephones directly into the socket to introduce noise and lower the sync and therefore reset the bRAS profile. i still havnt removed the telephones yet and i am synced at 4.5mb instead of 8mb. at speedtest.net i got 3mb, 1.2mb at bbmax speed test and i got 330kbps downloading the large file at btopenworld.... seems like it is working *cross fingers* will plug in filters in an hour or two

      Re: Connect... extremely frustrated!

it is the morning after the night before and after running several speed tests, i get a constant download of 3.3mb which is brilliant compared to the mediocre 0.5mb i have been getting the last couple of months.

would i have to wait a few more days for the speed to increase even further or is this the highest it will go now?

      Re: Connect... extremely frustrated!

it is now evening and i get on average just under 2mb which is to be expected i suppose because of the increased traffic....

i am happier but still not 100% satisfied because i know i used to get 6-7mb when i first got connected and a few few weeks after that.... still waiting for sky to get in tocuh with results of the BT checks
