Question about sync
Morning all,
I have been with Max now for about a week. I am currently getting speed of 6.8m down 500kb up.
I can see the exchange from my house! My stats are:
Down Up
Line Attenuation 14 db 4 db
Noise Margin 13 db 13 db
I would have hoped to have higher speeds. I have my router V2 Lan connected to my PC. I have removed the old ring wire thing, but cannot use the test socket as I have an old style faceplate.
Should I be hoping for higher speeds?
Many thanks
Elbow

Re: Question about sync
def Max then....hmmm, it should be showing 8096 if on gdmt (as the 768 would suggest) so either the new routers sync higher or somethings up....
either way, you could be on ADSL2+ easily with them stats...although i would've expected a higher SNR for downstream. are you using the master? (you say you haven't got a test socket but are you on an extention)
you might benefit from getting BT to replace the master for a new one as it could then get an even faster/more stable connection-------------------------------------------

Re: Question about sync
Thank you for the reply.
Here is an update. I called Sky who said my line was capped. I spoke to a really nice lady who removed the capping and set it at 16mb. She then said something about getting it to match(?) and finally settled on 12mb. My sync is now 11246 Att of 14db with SNR of 7db. The SNR has dropped 7db!! I have speedtested the line at 10mb.
I am going to contact BT to get the master socket changed and get one of those faceplates mentioned on the faceplate/cabling forum.
Very impressed with the way Sky handled this. If my line stays at this level and is stable I will be very happy.
Thanks again for the helpful advice - great forum and site.
Merry Christmas all.

Re: Question about sync
they've done the right thing at the present time and hopefully once you get the wiring sorted too you should get the full 16Mbps sync speed!!
