      Re: Speed Problem

ADSL speed is largely governed by line length (attenuation) and line quality (line noise).

Your attenuation, while quite high, would normally support a sync of ~4500kbps (4.5meg). Your router is syncing at only a fraction of this, but in this case, at least not directly, line noise isn't the issue.

Your extremely high noise margin almost certainly shows that your connection has been capped by Sky at 576kbps. Why they've done that you'll have to ask them - presumably you've been in contact with them recently? Unfortunately, in some cases, reporting a slow speed will often result in them lowering the speed even more! This may be the right course of action in some cases but not in most.

Have a read of the first sticky in my signature for background then go to the cabling and faceplate help forum where you'll find info on diagnosing and fixing line problems (if you have any). When you're happy that your line is fine, call Sky and get uncapped. Depending on what package you're on (please update your Skyuser profile) you should be getting something over 4 meg.

      Re: Speed Problem

the 228 upload reeks of Connect BUT there have been some auto caps going through to 448/228 so I could be wrong...

also, after a fault BT will throttle the line for 3 days and then raise it again - even if you didnt know there was a fault on the line
