Slow speeds
Hi, been reading through everyones elses speed issues, so thought I would add mine! I have connected to Sky BB for about a month and a half and was getting a half decent 3mb download. For the past 2 weeks though my speeds have been a joke - 1mb if I'm lucky, but most of the time I can't even go on the net and Xbox live.
I'm in a new build flat and most of the speedcheckers only say I can get .5 -1mb speeds, but I was getting faster. I'm not even far from the exchange, so I put these speed results down to it being a brand new flat.
Anyway, I've taken a screen grab of my router stats - can anyone tell me if they are any good?
Cheers

Re: Slow speeds
^^^ Those stats do not show a lot apart from a 4.4Mbps connection - you need to post your detailed stats using the utility in the Router stats section of the forum for further advice.

Re: Slow speeds
^^^ Your SNR (noise margin) is on the point of dropping the connection and you are getting 20% errors in just 7 minutes connected which will slow it down anyway.
Something must have changed with your line to cause more noise. Have you added an extension, or bought a new 'phone, or changed anything around the time the problem started? Can you try plugging the router into the test socket behind the faceplate of the master socket and post again to see if that makes any difference.

Re: Slow speeds
Everythings been the same since I got broadband, nothings changed. I have 3 phone sockets, but one of them is wired wrong, so it's not in use (should be for sky box). I do have 3 dect phones, but none are near the router and I had them before my speed dropped.
I'll plug the router into the test socket when I get back from work tonight and see what happens.
Cheers

Re: Slow speeds
I've had it plugged into the test socket for a couple of hours, do these stats look any better?

Re: Slow speeds
Yes much better, there is somthing wrong with your house's wireing somewhere...

Re: Slow speeds
In a word, yes. Only one CRC error in 1 hour 11 minutes compared with 5226 in 7 minutes on your previous stats! Also your noise margin has gone up from 5.7 to 11.1 albeit on a slightly lower sync speed.
This looks like there is a problem with your extension wiring and/or DECT phones. First thing to do is disconnect any wires from terminal 3 of the faceplate as they are not needed, Then try connecting with/without telephones etc. plugged in and watch the noise margin to try and rule out what else may be causing the line noise.

Re: Slow speeds
Ur faulty socket probably to blame, get it disconnected or pay for BT to fix it.
It doesn't get better than this band lol

Re: Slow speeds
Thanks for the help, I'll see if I find out what's causing the noise on the line
