Re: Sky Max
Hi,
I've connected to the test bit on my master switch and the figures are slightly better. My statistics are below. If I want to give ADSL 2 a go do I need to contact Sky helpdesk and ask for them to change the mode?
Thanks,
James

Re: Sky Max
^^^ Yes, your SNR is much higher in the master socket and you are now getting the max 8096 that G.DMT can provide. Potentially you could get up to 14500 on ADSL2 depending on your line.
You need to contact Sky (I would use the online form rather than the phone) and tell them you have cured a wiring fault and can you now try ADSL2.
The fault on your extension could well be the ring wire. Look for an orange and white wire running from terminal 3 on the master socket and disconnect it. You do not need it and it is renowned for causing interference to ADSL.

Re: Sky Max
Once you have contacted sky and if they do put you on ADSL2+, keep an eye on your line for a day or so, if you start dropping connection or slowing down , before phoning sky back remember you can use mognuts utility to put yourself back on gdmt if needed (that way if connection becomes crap, you can pop yourself back onto gdmt until the new firmware comes out which should help the router cope with the line noise, you can then pop yourself back onto ADSL2+ without having to go back to sky)
(i think above makes sense)

Re: Sky Max
Hi,
first thanks for all the advice. Secondly I have pulled out the orange and white wire in terminal 3 and now get better stats on the extension port. Now waiting on Sky to switch me over. I will let you know how it turns out.
Thanks,
James
