Sky not giving me better speeds

      Code:
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Uptime
      WAN PPPoA 152833 245936 0 5624 266960 00:22:26
      LAN 10M/100M 247620 154949 0 253717 7905 00:23:57
      WLAN 11M/54M 710 0 0 177 0 00:23:47
      Code:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2752 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 51.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 22.1 db 13.0 db
Here is my speed above and yesterday my download was between 5.5mb and 4.2mb but as you see my speeds are now 2.7mb and my upload has dropped also from a stable 416 to 288.

Filter connected to the wall, modem one side and other extension cable the other which has Phone and Sky+ connected to it.

What do I need to do, sky tech support are just useless and know nothing, they are wasting my time and money.

      Thanks

Have you tried connecting via your test socket?

I believe that should help you establish how good things are where the bb enters the house.

as allen says - the test socket with nothin else plugged in is the place to be to check how good things are and then a process of elimination should pinpoint any problems

so a test socket is when I unscrew the BT box and plug into the wall directly?

Re: Sky not giving me better speeds

Does anyone think it's odd that whenever I reboot my router I get the same speed all the time, 2752 kbps Downstream 288 kbps Upstream?

It seems that Sky Tier 1 put me on a 3mb package and not the max package, above are my new speeds after speaking with a Tier 3 engineer

Re: Sky not giving me better speeds

could you post your detailed stats (one posted could you also re-boot your router (turn off power for a couple of mis) and confirm your Attenuation figure

Re: Sky not giving me better speeds

I have just read this and it seems to have changed back not sure why but here are my stats now

      Code:
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 3 3 0 27 27 00:00:02
      LAN 10M/100M 158 475 0 1508 2583 00:00:44
      WLAN 11M/54M 247 0 0 1772 0 00:00:34
      Code:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5600 kbps 736 kbps
Line Attenuation 51.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 14.0 db
One of the main issues I am having is my Line Attenuation is either 51.0 or 15.5 and eariler I noticed my Noise Margin was 5.7 I am guessing thats pretty low and bad

Re: Sky not giving me better speeds

have a look at the first link in my sig for the Mognuts utility to post your detailed stats.

when your router re-sync's if you have a bad line speed will be lower (and will stay like that until nect re-sync)

are you now using the test socket ?

One of the main issues I am having is my Line Attenuation is either 51.0 or 15.5 and eariler I noticed my Noise Margin was 5.7 I am guessing thats pretty low and bad

your att is 51 the 15.5 is a bug in the router, your NM of 5.7 is low and would prob have been the reason for re-sync's.
there is a good post about NM on the forum somewhere (posted by Saturday i think)

lets have a look at the line and the test socket first, this will rule out internal wiring
