      Maximising upload speeds

      Hi chaps

Although I'm very happy with my current download speeds i think they can be improved but what i'm more concerned with is improving my upstream limit. I do a lot of webcam work and so the upstream is more important to me than downstream.

I have the SKY MAX package and have attched the stats for you to take a look at. It seems to me as though the downstream is incorrect and so maybe the upstream is?

      Current downstream is around 6000kbps
      Current upstream is around 500kbps

Aplogies for the vague figures but i was in a rush when i popped home.

Do Sky provide an SDSL service?

      Cheers

      Becky

      Re: Maximising upload speeds

I have just run the deataled stats on my router and have noticed that i am not on ADSL2. I am on exchange WMSTK which is a Sky LLU exchange so should i not be on ADSL2? Does this mean I have been capped?

Im on the phone to Sky as a type and im asking them to change my type to ADSl2 but i dont hold out much hope.

      Apologies for showing my ignorance.

      Re: Maximising upload speeds

Does the webcam need any ports opening at all?

Or do you have the link to the website that the webcam software comes from?

On your stats you have an upload of 768 which should be more than fast enough to use, we use Sky connections and have no issues streaming music etc for SkyUser Radio.

      Re: Maximising upload speeds

Hi - thanks for the reply.

no the webcam doesnt need any special ports opening, in uses a flash plugin to stream from my end to their end. Their end is in NYC which is probably where my bottleneck is - everytime i logon for a new session they say my connection is less than 192kbps which i know it isnt. So thats why i'm trying to get as much of an upload speed as i can possibly get.

My gut feeling is though i won't be able to get any better than this unless i go for an SDSL connection which im willing to do but don't think sky offer that service?

Do my stats look ok to you? I've been comparing them to other posts and they do seem OK.

I have a ticket raised with tier 3 now and have to call them back in 30 mins so hopefully they can maybe do something about it.

      Re: Maximising upload speeds

you are on Max, but not ADSL2+ - only lines less than 2K total length get put on it as longer lines benefit from gdmt...

whats your true attenuation level as the 15.5 reading is a known bug...
