Max only getting 5.2Mbps...?
Right, I signed up for the "max" option of Sky, apparently 16mbps...
After a couple of months, the speed has not improved beyond that of my highest, which was 6.2Mbps.
So, after spending time, checking my distance from the nearest exchange to my house (2.33KM) and making sure my modem was in the upright position to help with heat dissipation, there is no change, at all.
Anyone know what's causing this? I've not gone into anything technical so, if you guys could recommend anything, that'd be great.
Probably wrong section, way to start...Last edited by Cingal; 28-10-07 at 11:51 PM.

detailed router stats would be a good start so people can assess your problem. use this utility to get them and post after 24 hrs usage

Re: Max only getting 5.2Mbps...?
yes thats what we need.
with an attenuation ( att ) of 40 there is the "potential" for a sync of 11800. However you are on gdmt which will only sync at a max of 8000. This is probably due to the amount of errors showing on your line, which to be honest are excessive. If you can reduce them to an acceptable level you should see an increase in your sync upto 8000. To get any more than that you will need to ask sky to put you on adsl2+ but they wont do it with your current level of errors.

Also check this thread for info on wiring which is 9 times out of 10 responsible for line errors
