i could be wrong but BT connect is a very contended/throttled service and this may be why you can only get 2meg.

Edit: just had a thought, if you use XP have a look at the optimiser link in my sig and see if that helps

BT Use a daft profiling system which seems very picky at the best of times in my opinion.
It should take 3 days for your profile to change provided it is stable and hasnt done down at any point.
However I found that in actual fact with me it took nearer 7 days.

As your on an IPStream product you can do a BT Throughput test which will show you what your IP Profile is set to, what you are getting and what you should be capable of as well as showing your sync.

      BT Throughput Speedtester

Do a test on that and let us know, but all I can say is give it another couple of days and if nothing has happened call sky and ask them if they can have your IP Profile on your line refreshed as it is not updating.

i will give the speed tester you linked to ago now.

still no faster at the moment at 2mb

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6496 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 43.0 db 25.0 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 20.0 db

strange things is, well not strange but, another friend who lives about 10doors away with aol gets the same sync speeds i used to get 2272, i suspect this is bt capping again?

I just hope mine hurrys up and updates so i can get full speed.

Re: Speed problems, Should i be getting a greater one?

As I said above BT use a profiling system, which should be automated. Basically the equipment at your exchange sends the info to BT's systems which then alters your profile (very watered down) by means of telling the equipment in the exchange what to set to.

It could be that this process has broken down and it needs to be done manually?

But all should tell once you do that BT test and then again once every day. As it will show the profile that has been assigned to your line.
