      Down: 5192
      Up:323

Both figures are lower than other speed checkers, so maybe there are issues with accessing the site?

      ThinkBraodband gives ATM:
      Down 6709
      Up: 349

      Re: Speed Tester Results

We are working with the developer of this Speedtester, for us to use it, means an outlay of $300 per year, so we need to make sure it does what it says it will.

All results good or bad, will give us the opportunity to make sure it is as accurate as it can be.

Also Simplerules is currently coding an API so that we can plot the results and give out extra info which will be a benefit for all our members.

      Re: Speed Tester Results

Ged, What is the largest file size that is currently used to test or is it a flat-file?
Also, Does this version of Speedtest support MultiMirrors perhaps? Where users can donate bandwidth from there hosts/servers ect?

In all honesty I have no idea Fibre. I can ask later when I speak to the developer.

      Re: Speed Tester Results

      Hello,

I am the guy who is doing the speed checker script. I have just uploaded latest version and it seems the results could be better. I am still not sure if the fix will help to your problems, but I found out that the reason why it wasn't measuring properly on high speeds was that the script was very CPU intensive. So higher speed meant more CPU load, so on some slow PCs with really fast connection it could have reported slighly lower speed.

I have improved the code and now it runs much better. CPU is still shooting before the upload kicks in but it shouldn't have an impact on the accuracy.

Can you guys test it now if its better than before? Again, the comparison between BBMax etc would be helpful.

Re Questions about file sizes: the file sizes are variable and go from 200Kb to 8MB.

      Cheers,

      forcer

      Re: Speed Tester Results

Seems effectively broken now for me - the download gives a quick kick and then registers about 390k. Other sites indicate 6.5mbs ATM :-((

      Re: Speed Tester Results

Seems to be working correctly (i.e. takes several seconds to complete) for me and still gives results close to other sites of ~10650kbps.

Tried again, and it is working again. Though still indicating about a 1mb lower than e.g. ThinkBroadband.
