      Sorry, I'm not sure - I don't use Vista.

      @deebers

      You're on Connect which can be a little unpredictable. Your sync is a little lower than I'd have expected for your attenuation. There may be some scope to boost it a little. Your speedtest result is pretty good for your sync and excellent for Connect.

      @kj23

      Full sync possible for Mid. Your speedtest is a little low for your sync ( you should be getting ~6500kbps). Could be because you're wireless? If not, try running TCPOptimizer.

      @Manook

      Changing your interleave settings shouldn't affect your router sync (if anything you'd expect a small rise). Without seeing your full stats it's impossible to say but it looks to me as though they also capped your sync slightly. Your speedtest is fine for your sync.

      @miahm2

      Due to your attenuation your sync is excellent as is your noise margin.

      If you're seeing lower download speeds than before, what's changed in your setup? Are you wireless?

      @slinky

      Just goes to show how important the server load is on a speedtest.

      Stats (Max)

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 15592 kbps 764 kbps
      Line Attenuation 30.0 db 15.9 db
      Noise Margin 6.1 db 12.5 db

      Syncing at 15592. Shouldnt I be getting a bit better than this?!? (see below)
      Most downloads from large sites hit 1.05 MBps
      Using Master Socket. What do you reckon Saturday?

      Yes, with a sync of 15592kbps you could expect ~12500kbps on a speedtest.

      Most likely reasons for slow downloads (compared to sync) in rough order of likelihood:

      • a poor wireless connection
      • an overloaded test server
      • incorrect TCP/IP settings
      • severe line errors
      • other traffic on the PC/LAN at the time of testing

      BTW keep an eye on that noise margin. At 6.1db you will be starting to get extra line errors being generated - (but probably not enough to account for the slowdown - though it will be contributing).

      You may be able to improve your wireless signal quality and so improve throughput. Try experimenting with small changes to the router/aerial orientation. Changing wireless channel may also help.

      Are you sure? With your attenuation, 10078kbps is a very good sync speed (and you must be on ADSL2+). Can't see it supporting 12-13meg

      Your speedtest is very poor for your attenuation. Wireless?
