The stats aren't great but they're not terrible (good sync but errors are a bit high), though I doubt line problems are the cause of your low download speed. That's almost certainly down to a poor wireless connection.

Try wired. You should be getting ~10,000kbps. If you're not run TCPOptimizer. If you have to be wireless, try experimenting with different wireless channels and small changes to the router position.

      Cheers for the reply.
It is indeed what you said.

I'm going to have to invest in a new wireless card in my pc. Or resite the router.
Another way is to use the ethernet over electricity PC_World - Powerline Home Networking <-- Have you used or recommend these?

      EDIT:

Just plugged my ethernet cable straight into router, and my speeds are good , then bad.

I installed a COMMTEL ADSLFilterFaceplate bought from Focus at the weekend. I'm wondering whether to put the old one back to be honest.

Re: **run a speedtest and post your results here**

Well I think my router is guilty of wishful thinking as all of a sudden it is showing my downstream attenuation of 15.5db when I live a few kilometres from my exchange. Normally it is about 42db so imagine that is what it says. Also somehow my speedtest has come out with a fast speed than my sync speed, again, I have no idea what is going on lol.

My router has always seemed a little quirky.

On looking at these it also seems that it rebooted itself without my knowledge... Me thinks it is ill.

Re: **run a speedtest and post your results here**

OK this is not possible right?

My Router is synced at 7584 Down with Noise of 9.9 and I just got these types of speeds 3 times:

I tried to download a file from Microsoft and it said it was Download at 1.0MB/s then it slowly fell to 800KB/s and then finished.

Rebooted the router and now synced at 8128 and still getting these speeds.

Re: **run a speedtest and post your results here**

      Hi all,

I've been a little disappointed with my connection with Sky (in the 2-3 weeks i've been connected). My previous ISP was Pipex and although I was paying alot more and only getting 2mb, everything was instant (compared with my new connection).
So i've been trying to improve my connection etc.

I have posted before and was getting around 2.5mb.
I have since downloaded Optimiser and now on 10mb!

      Below are the router stats.

Can I ask if the noise is ok or what can be done about it? I have a wireless connection to my laptop and I have moved my router to the master socket to see if things improve!

Any help will be much appriciated.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 11881 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 24.6 db
