Re: my speeds :confused and dissapointed please help

Your stats are poor with a high level of errors on your line. Please see the cabling and faceplate help forum for info on diagnosing and fixing line problems.

However, with regard to your low throughput, line problems aren't the reason - you've answered your problem yourself: you're wireless. Please run a comparison with a wired connection.

Lastly, TCPOptimizer will not improve a wireless connection (nor router sync). It only affects the connection at the PC level.

Re: my speeds :confused and dissapointed please help

thanks for your help i have removed an extension that i had on the line and have the connection wired i also have removed the faceplate and am plugged into the test socket of the phone line it has made a difference but i think i am still getting very poor speeds .now downloads are maxing out at around 425kbs and newsleecher maxs out at 840kbs . would the nte-2005 faceplate make much of a difference? here are all my stats while i am connected like this any more help would be greatly appreciated

also i forgot to mention i am roughly 1 mile from the exchange.

Re: my speeds :confused and dissapointed please help

No, an ADSL faceplate will give the same results (sync speed/noise margin) as the test socket.

I'm a little puzzled why your throughput is low, wired - your stats are fine. Just in case, run TCPoptimizer again, setting it to 8000kbps, click optimal settings, apply the changes and exit. Reboot your PC then run a wired test with this site. What speed is reported?

They're now excellent - you're now downloading at 7meg which is about as good as it gets on an 8meg (sync) connection
