ADSL2+ Stats - can anything else be done?

I have been having lots of fun with Tier 3 recently; I was able to get them to remove the cap and was getting 8mb on G.DMT (line attenuation 31db and NR 9.3db @ 1.18km from exchange) with no errors according to Sky whilst I was streaming video.

I then asked them to change it to ADSL2+ and they started by capping it at 10mb (the line attenuation changed instantly to 35db and the noise went to 7.2db), they said that they could see at the exchange that “hundreds” of errors were being created whilst I was streaming the video again.

I had no visible issues of any faults with the speed of internet pages or streaming video, but I was told I had to go back to being capped at 8mb with G.DMT. I did however manager to talk them into leaving me capped on 10mb with ADSL 2+.

I have been testing for a couple of days and don’t seem to have any issues. Am I being fed wrong information by Sky? Would I be able to get nearer to the 16mb limit without any connection issues?

I have included my latest modem stats below and hope that someone will be able to shed more light on the situation for me.

Re: ADSL2+ Stats - can anything else be done?

Attenuation will always increase when moving from G.DMT to ADSL2+.

      Your stats are fine.

No, there's no point getting uncapped with your current line condition. Note your noise margin. You only have 0.3db difference between your current margin and the router default of 6.9db. Were you uncapped your router would continue to sync at much the same speed it currently is.
