      internet connection drops - UPDATED !!!!!

      Hey i need some help

      its been 3 weeks now since ive got my SKY Broadband MAX package 16mb.. the max i can recieve is 6mb down my line...

      the problem is that for past 3 weeks now the internet connection drops... the lights on the router stay solid green like they should but the internet itself stops working... why is this?

      to get it to work i jus reboot my router via taking out the black wire from behind the router then plug back in straight away and starts working fine.. even when i do that it still happens atleast 5 / 6 times during the day plus my downstream rate will decrease or increase depending on when i reboot my router.

      also sometimes i also have a laptop and that is connected via wireless using sky, but the internet itself stops on the laptop aswell the connection is still excellent/strong, jus the internet stops working?

      ive foned them up and they said my problem has been esculated to technical support level 3 and will get a call back within 3 - 5 days.

      does any1 have the same problem and if so what can be done to resolve this?

      see my sig for getting ur full stats and post them up - also might be worth rebooting ur router as chances are that attenuation level is the 15.5 bug reading and not the true reading....give it a go and we can comment a bit more

      A few minutes reading the forum would answer your queries.

      If you do you'll see that disconnections are not at all uncommon. The three most common reasons are (in order of likelihood):
      • The UPnP "bug" (turn it off in your router to fix it).
      • Falling noise margin.
      • A build up of line errors.


      You'll also find a lot of information that will answer why the connection sync speed will often change when you reboot. A good starting point would be the first sticky in my signature which also explains what to do about a falling noise margin.
