Migrated from Namesco to Sky Mid - please check stats

      Hi,
Newbie just migrated from Namesco after their 1 year free offer. Relatively happy with how smoothly the migration went.
Since migration on 9/8/08 have noticed speed gradually levelling down from my max of 6000 KB/s up and 400 KB/s up to the lowest of around 1900 KB/s down and 120 KB/s up. Checking the other threads does Max still have a 10 day training period or is this just the connect package? I have disabled uPnP as most advise to.

I have included my stats for the previous couple of days under separate posts - any advise would most be appreciated

-firstly you have asked if max has a 10 day period, but aren't you on Mid?
-base/mid/max does not have a 10 day training period
-your roouter is synching at 8Mb (top for Mid)
-post some speedtests from Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed
      -are you wired or wireless

      Thanks for the quick response

Yes on Sky mid but its a Max product right

      Now wireless - initially wired

Here are some speedtest results from today

Re: Migrated from Namesco to Sky Mid - please check stats

      Its a Mid product.

When you say max, do you mean ADSLMax (or MAXDsl) either way, nope its not. Its an ADSL2+ product capped to 8Mb.... it's more complex than that.

You are getting 25% actual download compared to sync when it should be more like 70-80%.

      1. What results do you get wired.... if the same then do '2'.
      2. Run the optimiser - see my sig

Re: Migrated from Namesco to Sky Mid - please check stats

Thanks again reddwarfcrew - I was under the impression it was an ASDLMax product - but ASDL2+ capped at 8MB kinda makes sense.....
So if there is no 10 training period - this is what speed I am stuck with right or should I be tweaking noise levels etc?

Sure enough wired I get my original results

but is this normal - by changing to wireless I would expect some drop in speed but that is more 50% loss.

That shows that skyBB is working perfectly.

Wireless is notoriously poor. Lots of things can degrade a wireless signal. Is the wireless adapter on the PC close to any electircal objects. Try moving it. If it is a usb wireless adapter, try to move it further away from the PC using a usb extension.

its gonna be very trial and error I'm afraid.

Your stats look ok, worth trying wired to see if results are any better, also worth trying TCP optimizer see this thread http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/speed...onnection.html
