Yet another slow speed thread.
First of all hello to everyone. Having recently subscribed to Sky after my escape from NTL I wonder if I've out of the frying pan and into the fire. Though the Sky+ box is great :-)
I'm on the Up to 8Mb package, and for the first few days I was getting 2.5-3.5 Mbps (speedtest.net and one other). Now though this has dropped to <0.5Mbps for the last couple of days. I think my line noise and attenuation figures are okay, I have no line extensions, have tried the maintainence socket inside the master socket and have tried a different filter none have any effect.
Stats below, hopefully someone can shed some light.

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
looks to be clearly a PC issue as the router is syncing at 8Mb give or take.
Have you tried a test at: Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed
Have you also been doing the test over an ethernet wired connection or wireless. If wireless, then try wired so we can try and pinpoint the problem.

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
Your profile says Base, but you look to be on Mid? What are you on?

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
Sorry, on mid have updated profile. Currently set up wireless, I'll try it wired see if that makes a difference. Can't think that why my PC could be causing the issues I don't think I've installed any new software in the past few days or changed any settings, but then again I do have a couple of kids so you never know
I've ran my virus and spyware checker they both show nothing. I'll try it wired and let you know.
Edit: BroadbandMax also giving 0.5MBps

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
Same results when wired. Very strange sdo you think a system restore may solve the issue? Have only recently performed a fresh XP install just prior to setting up Sky BB. Could it be problems at the exchange?

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
It is not a sky problem or bt problem as your router is receiving a speed of 8Mb. for some reason you PC is not getting that speed.
Have you ran the optimiser (see my sig).

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
Tried the optimizer and its made no difference. Frustrated now. Tryed an XP system restore and it won't let me restore to an earlier restore point for some reason.
Thanks for your help, if you have any more ideas, I'm all ears

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
by those stats, you're not on Mid - you're on Connect (the 448 upload is not th Sky setting). You might wanna check that out first...if that's the case then we'd have to pass the issue to BT as we wouldn't be able to do anything to the line profile
EDIT: - you're also on Fast path, which for an 8MB service defo suggests you're on Connect-------------------------------------------

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
Well if you are on connect, then remember that there is a 10 day training period where the speed will masively fluctuate until it finds the most stable level.
I'm assuming this is your exchange: The Broadband Resource which would indicate that sky do have their equipment there and so you should be on mid not connect.

Re: Yet another slow speed thread.
Thanks for the replies. I'm in Ashford, Kent. Not really sure if I'm Mid (thought it was) or Connect. My wife sorted all the subscription out. Guess I just need to give it a while and see what happens. Would expect a decent speed though I am within spitting distance of the exchange.
