Internet seems little slow mabye its me..

Well I have had my broadband for about nearly 2 months now and it seems alittle slow at times and i'm on the 16mb plan. I'm sure it says i'm on 6mb in the router but I don't no much about router stuff.. I was wondering if you guys can tell me if the speeds are ok or not I mainly use my internet for xbox live gaming & hosting games so i need to be sure. Cheers!

Here's the stats thing or whatever it is.

Re: Internet seems little slow mabye its me..

Sadly it's a physical impossibility to transmit data at a speed any higher than that which the router is synced at - less transmission overheads. If your router is synced at 6202kbps then trying any number of speedtest sites will never give a result much better than 5000kbps.

Your attenuation is enviably low at 31db but your sync speed is only 6202kbps which is a fraction of what this attenuation will support on a relatively noise free line. Your noise margin is "normal" and your max rate close to actual so you are not capped. This means that the problem lies with line noise, probably your home phone wiring as this is the most common. Are you using an extension to connect your router?

See the cabling and faceplate help forum for info on diagnosing and fixing line noise issues. If you get it sorted out then your sync will immediately rise to ~16000kbps as, happily, you are already on ADSL2+.
