      Slightly reduced download speeds....

      I had been experiencing probs with my connection over the last few weeks with pages just not loading at all so I unplugged the router from the master socket and reset the router.

      Now I know by doing this it will take a while for the connection to get back up to speed so it was at around half meg for a day or so and has now increased to 1.4meg for last day or so (I think I unplugged router on Friday).

      Now my normal speed is 1.8meg when running speedtests and dloading from Newsgroups. Anyone know why it has not gone back up to 1.8 ? I have tried rebooting router again and turning UPnP on and off but no luck.

      My stats are as follows :

      Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 2372410 3758648 0 2321 23833 13:15:51
      LAN 10M/100M 1198 6 0 3 0 13:16:20
      WLAN 11M/54M 3759197 2377194 0 24905 3021 13:16:10

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 2304 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 59.0 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 11.6 db 17.0 db

      Thanks

      Re: Slightly reduced download speeds....

      you have a very high Line Attenuation of 59.db which either means you are capped or a long way from the exchange please post your detailed stats m8

      Go to the utility web site Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4 Click the “Get” detailed modem stats button and click “OK”.
      Enter the router login user name and password.
      At the next screen, click the back button on your browser.
      Click the “Download” netgear.cfg button open with note pad then copy and paste onto here
      Please take a moment and upgrade your bit torrent client to the latest version.

      Having a problem doing this - when I press the download button I get a message saying "Do you want to save this file or find a program online to open it ?" and then I have Find, Save or Cancel underneath. Any ideas ?

      P.S. I am 2.48km away from my exchange.

      I have saved the file but cannot open it - it's a CFG file if that helps and does not have an application to open it..........

      I do not have Wordpad, I only have Word. When I open it with Word it eventually opens and says :

      pppoa_username=removed@skydsl
      pppoa_password=removed
      pppoa_idle=0
      pppoa_ipaddr=

      Does that mean anything to you ?

      My line attenuation has always been quite high I am guessing because of the distance from the exchange but I have been able to get a download speed of 1.8meg for as long as I can remember.

      @JamieBee

      I think you must have pressed the get password button rather than get detailed stats (BTW I've removed the details you posted). Try again.

      Also, if you have a windows machine then you will have WordPad as it comes with the operating system.
